Recruitment of Chairpersons of County Wildlife Conservation and Compensation Committees (Forty Seven (47) Posts)

Overview: Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) is a State Corporation established by an Act of Parliament to conserve and manage wildlife in Kenya, and to enforce wildlife-related laws.

The Wildlife Conservation and Management, 2013 (the ‘Act’) came into force on 10th January, 2014.

Section 18 of the Act provides for a County Wildlife Conservation and Compensation Committee (CWCCC) in respect of each of the forty seven (47) Counties and for a Chairperson of each CWCCC, appointed through a competitive process.

The Chairperson of each CWCCC will provide it with overall leadership.

The statutory functions of the CWCCC are to:

• Implement the registration and establishment of wildlife user rights;
• Oversee the preparation and implementation of management plans on community and private land;
• Ensure distribution of benefits derived from the use of wildlife resources;
